When running a file in openbuilds, often times the z axis instead of running up at the beginning for the program before the first touch off for the floating head, travels down.
I have to stop the program reset my z and then it runs correctly. I am assuming its a post processing issue. I am homeing the machine before each run, so I don’t think that’s an issue.
Any help would be wonderful
please upload your gcode file here, one of us can take a look.
please explain exactly what this means, what actions do you take to ‘reset my z’ ?
So the z starts to travel down, and I immediately stop the program. I travel the z back up, set zero and restart the program. Then it works as it should.
in the absence of seeing the gcode file, I can only guess that early gcode sequence in your program has an absolute (G90) (not relative G91 to current position) Z motion coordinate that is negative (down) from the current position while relative to the WCS Z zero or G92 Z0 position. After you stop the gcode program, you are changing Z0 either with a G10 or G92 cmd, and from the new Z0 coordinate the gcode absolute coord is in a positive (up) direction from current position.
