Is there a guide or instruction on how to move V7 settings, preferences, machines and tools to a new installation of V8 on the same PC? I don’t find anything, unless I am missing it… and I would prefer not to have to find a way to copy all of this information to the new version on the same PC if there are some pointers to the old data (that still works with V8). - launch sheetcam v7, goto menu Help / ‘Open settings folder’. This will open an OS (Win or linux) file manager window into the sheetcam settings system folder. Leave that window open.
- close sheetcam.
- do the same for sheetcam v8.
- copy default.tool from the v7 file manager folder to the v8 file manager folder.
- I don’t recommend that you copy the .ini file, I don’t know how compatible it is from v7 to v8.
- navigate to the ‘posts’ folder and copy any post processor files to the same folder of v8.
- that’s about all there is to salvage from v7.
- v7 job files and toolsets are forward compatible with v8
v8 is largely v7.1.40 base code, with added features of Autonesting and 2DCAD.
v8 requires a new license file, and if you use any of the five sheetcam purchased plugins, then new plugin keys as well.
