Hi! I’m verry exited to hear that sheetcam has a nesting application. I have tried to install sheetcam on my linux arch machine and have done a virtual machine for windows 11. I get a error when trying to start the nesting. Failed to staring auto nesting application. I can first see the Nesting part/operation tab where maximum number of sheets and spacing pops up after that the save dialog and then a empty Nesting windows appears before the failed to start auto nest application error.
I can start the NestingPrototype.exe file manually
To clarify for others, you are referring to Sheetcam’s new release this past week of V8.0.0. It is a Windows only release, we are assessing the technical challenges to make a linux release for V8.
Who’s VM product are you using to run Win 11 on linux ? I have successfully tested v8 on a VMware Workstation Win 11 VM. It could be that your VM did not have internet access during the sheetcam install, that’s needed to pull down the C++ runtime libs and some .NET libs at times, depends on the Win 11 build date that you are using. Odd that you did not get an install error if that is the case.
I’m using virtual machine manager and are running Win 11 on QEMU/KVM (I have no idea what i’m doing :D)
During the install it had some problem downloading, but the error showed a link that i downloaded and installed (Microsoft visual c++2015-2019 Redistibutable) and after that i did’t have any problem. So if you can point to more dependencies please let me know.
I cannot reproduce your error using VMware Workstation VM v17.6.2 (on a Win 11 host) and a guest VM of Win 11 Pro v24H2 build 26100.6584. The autonesting feature did launch and ran five iterations of a nesting solution, which is normal. My sheetcam v8 install was not licensed, thus could not save the autonesting iterations, again this is normal. I installed sheetcam v8 without an internet connection to the VM, thus no dependency downloads took place, but again, our Windows 11 builds are most likely different.
I’m not setup to test QEMU/KVM on a linux host.
I suggest you rollback to a clean slate Win 11 VM. Before you install sheetcam v8, download and install this C++ lib set- VC_redist.x86 download for Windows
I doubt we’re going to be able to test this setup on a linux host with your VM manager, so we’ll be limited to examining the support.zip contents for diag. We don’t make any guarantees that sheetcam v8 will run on a linux host w VM, those are not formally supported platforms.
