hello,
Is there a way to set the default corner piercing position to be on the top right corner for each piece in plasma setup?. I usually did this with other software since it helped to hold parts while cutting the loose side which might make the sheet warp and move. so cutting from the top right corner moving counter clockwise and back to exit cut for each piece. the starting point for the whole sheet is on the bottom left. I know its possible to edit each pierce point but just seeking a more wholesome way of doing this.
There are a couple of ‘controls’ that can tune Sheetcam to a preference that you describe.
-
Options-Job Options-Nesting, these settings influence part cut order (job level) while respecting Operation order as defined in each part. For your description, you may desire Keep Parts Together which allows for automatic optimization, and Cut Direction slider full Horizontal, which favors X axis rapid motion between parts vs. Y axis.

for plasma, Jet Operation-Cut Path, similar options, but now at the part level. Most prominent on this window is the 5 point Start Position grid. Your description would have the top right radio button selected; so within a part, automatic shape sequencing will begin near the top right of the part. Then Cut Direction full Horizontal, this will drive shape sequencing left to right, down, right to left, and so forth top to bottom.
@Les_Newell may weigh in, but I believe there were some optimization improvements recently (in the Sheetcam TNG Development version 7.1.36+) where optimized Start Points are attempted to be placed such that rapid motion to the next shape will not cross the path of the shape just cut, attempting to avoid torch / part tilt collisions and motion over part drop area.
You should experiment with these settings to find a combination that you like.
where can i get this version 7.1.36+?
You’ll see several downloads, scroll to the page middle to find 7.1.35. Install that one and it will update to next available version.
