When I create a part in freecad and load into sheet cam I get multiple errors overlapping outlines duplicates removed and then another about outside offset paths not generated correctly . When I test run it goes back and forth over same lines changing directions. I have tried the part file as dxf and svg with similar results. I know I’m missing something maybe someone can help ?
based on your description, it seems you have multiple shapes/contours stacked on top of each other, perhaps even in the same layer.
I agree but this problem has just started after I purchased the sheet cam license and did an update. Is there a way to see layers in sheet cam or remove them?
I had the same problem when creating drawings with Freecad.
If you use a sketch only you can export it directly.
If you have a 3D drawing there are two extra steps. Klick the last item in your task list and change refine true. This will get rid of extra lines if you added pads to you drawing.
Last go to the draft workbench select the surface you want. Choose the view you want. Normally that would be the top view. Then press Shape 2d view. This will create a 2d drawing. Go to the task list and export the 2d view.
For me this gets rid of all the extra lines without fail.
Hope this will help.
With Refine true extra lines disappear.
Last Create a 2D view so Freecad knows which lines need to be exported.
Sorry no picture i reached the limit of replies and fotos.
This was so simple. Thank you for the help.
Freecad is a really good program no need for internet to use the program and it will remain free.
However there is a steep learning curve if you are a beginner with Cad.
When I found out of the refine function on the Freecad forum I had the same reaction as you. So simple. I found the best way to learn Freecad is to watch tutorials on you tube. The sketcher tutorials were very helpful. I wish I watched them earlier.
I agree learning curve is tough. Watching videos are good but takes forever to find a video on just one step your trying to figure out. I have hours looking for something and it normally ends up being at the end of a random long video ! Also I hate to post things unless I just can’t figure it out because that’s another sea of information.
