Even if I choose shortest path it skips holes all over the place and traverses all around the part very obviously not taking the shortest path. Is there a setting that I have missed?

Apparently all I need to do to solve my problems is post about them on here. I discovered the cut direction slider on the cut path tab. Slid it all the way to horizontal and bingo, it worked great. Thanks for looking.
