Can I make the job-file remember the last post-processor used?

Post by Lieven Standaert »

Hello,

been using sheetcam for a month now, big fan.

I originally started using it to make g-code for the plasma-cutter in our fablab,
but are now also starting to use it to make g-code for the router, it is just much faster.
Both machines use a different post-processor.

Sheetcam does everything I want it to do, except one thing:

if I made a job- file for the router, then go back to the plasma and open a job I did the day before for the plasma,
I would expect sheetcam to generate the correct g-code again.
This is not the case, as sheetcam sticks to the last post-processor I selected, even though I used a different post in that job.
I need to remember to change the post-processor manually each time.

I found an option to put the post in the same folder as the job, but this does not fix the issue.
Had a look around on the forum, but 'post-processor' is too generic a term to give meaningful results.

Is there a way to set up sheetcam to store the post-processor and machine I select in the job-file?

Thank you,
Lieven

I have the same use case, both plasma and routing jobs with separate scpost files. What I found works well is to have two separate scpost launch buttons. Perhaps that is the use case intent SC had in mind for this feature. To place second scpost launch button on the toolbar, see Options-Plugins-more tab. You can name up to 4 more scpost files and launch buttons.

Try this. Not sure if it still works or not.

Sorry I'm a bit late to the party here but it looks like having two profiles would work for you.
This link covers setting up a second profile: viewtopic.php?t=6654

Does the /pp switch still work?
I agree that profiles is probably best for his application since he's using 2 different processes.

Yes, the /pp switch should work. However the OP wants to run a plasma and a router. As these two machines use very different settings I think two profiles would be better suited in this case.
