Spiral pocket

Hi there I recently had my laptop hard drive crash and setting up again
Since I’ve got up and running I’m now having a issue with spiral pockets where it starts mid diameter of a circle and does complete circles then moves over the step over at the 3 o’clock position untill it gets to the outside diameter then moves back inwards to complete the inner half of the pocket…

Before it use to just start from the outside and work Its way to the inside in a true spiral motion
Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix the issue please

Cheers Mick

What version of SheetCam are you using? I can’t replicate that fault here. Could you post a copy of your job file (File->save job) so I can take a look.

Started to post this myself. here is one similar.

I missed that you have an internal circle. Yes, this will happen. With pocketing SheetCam will always start from the point furthest away from the edges. If you are just cutting a plain circular pocket that is the center of the circle. If you have a circle in the middle that point is half way between the two circles.

That is what I assumed, in order to climb cut both walls. But watch the toolpath go over itself in the first couple of arcs.
180 cw, then 360 ccw, then 180 cw all at the first depth before stepping over.
Maybe to provide for a ramp ? which is set to plunge.

It seems to vary with the step over setting.
40, 50,75 and 80% are all different.
Some ignore the start points, some stagger them.

At 75% step over you just happen to have hit a case where the offset circles from the inside and outside overlap almost exactly. These are two very slightly different circles but they are so close they look like they are identical. I have to admit I’m not quite sure why the start points are moving.
