sheetcam parts different than file

Before I post the question I should give some background on my workflow. I use a windows PC and Inkscape or Fusion 360 to generate SVG and DXF files. I often use a windows (trial) version of Sheetcam to test the files and make sure the files will cut properly. Then I transfer the DXF or SVG files to my linux PC and open them in Sheetcam for plasma cutting.

The problem I have is that often the files work fine on my windows PC Sheetcam, but not on my linux machine’s Sheetcam, and vice versa. Please see attached photos.

This is the Inkscape file.

This is how the SVG renders in Sheetcam (linux)

This is how the DXF renders in Sheetcam (windows)

With this particular file, the SVG renders properly in windows and the DXF renders properly in linux, but sometimes files don’t render properly either way and I have to do some hoop jumping with the file to get it render properly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using the most recent version of SheetCam? If so, could you send me your drawing so I can take a look and see what is going on.

Hi Les,

Here are three files that are not working for me.

The DXF renders with the large circles on Sheetcam for Windows version 7.09. The SVGs render with some parts missing and some added in Linux version 6.1.57.
5X10FP layout3.svg
38x60 FP layout.svg
5X10FP layout.dxf (493 KB)

Could you go to Options->application options->Drawing import and let me know what values you have there.

I just uploaded a new release that should fix the circles.

The settings on both versions are…

.0004
.0008
.0079
0
4

Version 7.0.10 did fix the circles on the Windows machine, Thanks Les.

I do still need to get the Linux version set up right because that is the only one I have a license for.

I appreciate your time and help.

Mike

I’m pretty sure your license is good for both versions.

Hi DJ,

The license agreement says only one computer; I could transfer it to my windows PC probably, but the Linux machine runs my plasma table.

Mike

I meant it should work on either version.
I think Les is flexible on the licenses for small one man operations. I’ve read a few places where he’s okay with you using it on a second computer. You could always email him to check.

Thanks DJ,

I will ask. I could then make the TAP file in Windows and run it in Linux. I was hoping it was a settings issue and an easy fix, but maybe not?
