Selecting multiple items?

I have a small problem selecting multiple objects whilst creating a job from a DXF file. Ie I have imported the file where all shapes are on one layer. I then move all shapes that share the same milling procedure to one layer.

This is where I run into problems as I cannot quite figure out what I have selected. Ie I have selected “Edit Contours” and when I hover over a shape, it changes into white, rightclick and I can move to layer. Rubberband and I can select multiple shapes, but how do I pick shapes the way I would select in any windows program, ie Ctrl-click?

Also, when moving about SheetCam appears to group shapes for me, colouring those in different colours.

Can someone explain this to me?

Ctrl-click should work.

The colours are quite important. Red is a closed outside shape. Yellow is a closed inside shape. Grey is a line or broken shape. Say you drew a simple washer. You have two concentric circles. The outer circle will be red because it is outside. The inner circle will be yellow. The cut side is reversed on yellow lines. In the above example if you select an outside offset the cut will be inside the yellow circle and outside the red circle.

Pay particular attention to grey outlines. If you intended the shape to be a complete outline then somewhere you have some lines that don’t meet up. A broken outline will almost undoubtedly not offset in the way you expect it to. To find the break, turn off ‘View->show segment ends’ and turn on ‘View->show path ends’. Now you will see a white dot wherever lines don’t meet up correctly.

OK. That explains things. Yes Ctrl-Click works on my PC, but on my friend’s PC (he has the mill) I find it sluggish and screen updates lagging. I guess that old laptop of his is simply too slow to use for this.
