Good Morning Les, I’m having trouble with open paths in sheetcam, I manipulate art in Mastercam 9 , check contours everything is closed and contours are good. Then I change to DXF for importing to Sheetcam, and it’s a open path? I zoom in real close in sheetcam and indeed theres a gap. Even tried Mastercam X5 at work and it’s the same results. Is there a properties box that needs tweaking for imports or a tolerance setting, any other suggestions. A close open contours button would be a nice feature :>) just a thought.
Thank You Ray
Go to Options->application options->drawing import. Increase the import link tolerance and relaod the drawing. Keep increasing the tolerance until the outline shows as closed.
Good Morning Les, I increased the the import tolerances to as much as .010 it did not help this drawing, it’s been changed so much I think I will start over with a new one. Will also try with other drawings this weekend. I was surprized how low the tolerance is .0008 , is this a good default value for mosts imports or should I run it up to .002 maybe ? New to some of this so just asking for advice, most of the items being cut will be art related items. I do have Corel Draw too, just not as good in it as I am with Mastercam. Would Corel be a better choice for manipulating files?
I noticed all changes made in mastercam were problems areas, trimmed sharp points to fillets to get more sepparation to eliminate thin spots, then those were the break points in the path ?
Thanks Ray
Could you give me a copy of the problem file. One other possibility is that the contours are ending up on different layers. If this is the case then they will always end up separate.
The link tolerance is low as it is aimed towards accurate milling. If you are plasma cutting or engraving artistic work you can probably get away with much higher values, up to 0.010" or more.
HI Les, Did you recieve the file of the open paths ? Just wondering if you had any luck with it ?
Thanks Ray

I am having this issue with a file as well. Did we ever figure out the remedy? The paths are closed in fusion, verified by extruding the part. Import to sheet cam and it shows some paths are open, and some paths are closed, on the exact same part.
Could you send me the drawing file. I’ll take a look and see what is going on. By the way it is better to start a new topic rather than replying to one that is 13 years old.
