Multiple shapes

Hi Les
The shapes plugin is a very exciting development and it has been long awaited. Well done mate.
A question please. I tried to do multiple shapes on one job or sheet. Is this possible as it seemed to replace the current shape with the new shape.

This is what I did.
I created a square and then duplicated it. Then I when back to shapes and crated a new shape. I used a pipe flange and then that replaced the square and its duplicate.
So I gather that you can have multiple shapes but all are grouped in a single part. Is this correct?

Les,

Multiple shapes work just fine here.

Paul

Hi Marius,

As Tony mentioned you need to use ‘new shape’ to create multiple shapes. If you duplicate a part you are just creating a step-and-repeat of the original part so any changes to the original will be reflected in all of the duplicates. If you copy the part you create an independent copy that is not affected by any changes in the original.

HIYA LES, You may want to consider a SNAP TO Part function so you can create several shapes then overlay them on each other and have them SNAP TO say the center point if needed. Otherwiase it would HARD to get them aligned exactly as needed.

Just a thought, ( TP

You may also want to add a conversation command line input Where you program individual segments of the part.

Line , StartPoint, Endpoint

Arc , StartPoint, End Point, I,J OR Radius of the arc.

Circle, CenterPoint, Radius or Diameter

Drill , CenterPoint , Depth, Return, FeedRate

This makes it VERY easy to create a part from a Blueprint or drawing or just out of your head.

It is VERY usefull here for simple things.

Just a thought, ( TP

I like it…

Les,
thanks for all your good work!
