Creating Inside Offsets in Sheetcam

Hello!! Happy to find a board that is Sheetcam related! Hopefully you guys can help. I’m new to all of this CNC stuff.

I have a design I created in Adobe Illustrator. I can successfully import the .dxf into Sheetcam. However, in order to “fill in” the inside lines and just cut 1/8in into my material, I need a series of inside offsets to make that happen. Right now the .dxf file is a simple outline. As an example, take a circle. I want to cut the complete interior circle, all inside offset, 1/8th inch into a 3/4in piece of ply wood. Am I making sense?

I’m hoping there is a quick command for this - instead of me having to go back into Adobe Illustrator and inside offset my whole design. That would suck

I’m using a router bit with a .25in diameter.

Thanks in advance!

Do you mean you want the circle to come out smaller than you drew it? If so use an inside offset cut operation then use finish allowance to offset the circle inwards.

Thanks for your response, Les.

No, I want the circle to be the same size. However, I want to do an inside offset cut that doesn’t go all the way through my material and cuts out the entire interior of the circle.

In that case you want to use a pocket operation. That will clear everything inside the shape to whatever depth you select.

OH SNAP! That’s what a pocket operation is? Haha…thank YOU!
