cant get the text to show up in sheetcam

hi all, done a very basic pattern in autocad, i have imported in into sheetcam but the text doesnt show up, i have tried exploding the parts like someone advised me too, still nothing, the part is just some contact details i want to weld to my equipment that i manufacture, nothing special,

i have attached the file if any of you would like to have a go and explan where im going wrong?

another question - is there anyone on here from wales?
thanks in advance

chris

Chris,
Can’t explain why your having a problem.
I downloaded the drawing and opened it up to see if I could see any drastic
problems and found nothing wrong.
I then imported the drawing into Sheetcam Development 6.1.13 and the text
was there
I then tried to do a simulation of cutting and it worked fine?

By any chance, have you somehow turned the layer off in sheetcam???

hi, thanks for the rapid response! just managed to get the text to show up in sheetcam (dont ask me how i done that!!) have run the post processor and opened it up it mach3 but only a few lines of gcode show up,

i have copied and pasted the gcode below

N0010 (Filename: agricbdxf.tap)
N0020 (Post processor: Mach3 plasma.scpost)
N0030 (Date: 21/01/2015)
N0040 G21 (Units: Metric)
N0050 G53 G90 G91.1 G40
N0060 F1
N0070 S500
N0080 (Part: agricbdxf)
N0090 M05 M30

any ideas why im not getting all the gcode from this file? ive really got to get to grips with all this software soon! think im going to go nuts otherwise!!

regards

chris

From the looks of the gcode, it only did the “setup” part and none of the
operations.
Are you sure you made the operations before hitting post???

Best guess on my part.

yes ive done everything the sheetcam tutorial has said to do! ive included a screenshot of my sheetcam just before i press the post processor button!

That all looks correct. As Art suggested, have you tried running simulation (mode->simulation)?

If the simulation runs correctly you should get correct g-code.

thanks les! didnt even know that existed! when i press start on the simulation a window comes up that says - warning- feedrate is zero?? where do i alter that?

Double click on your operation (where it says No offset, Default…) to open it.
You can set the feed rate in there.

By the way in simulation click the setup button and set the machine type to ‘jet’ rather than ‘mill’

its set at 6000mm/min, set it to jet instead of mill and still the same!

Edit your tool and check the plunge rate. You will get that error if the plunge rate is 0.

plunge rate set at 300mm/min

included a screeshot of the settings etc

Could you post the job file so I can try it here.

yes no problem mate

I just tried your job here and it worked. I have a suspicion you may have a corrupted license. Do you have a license? Go to Help->about. Does it say if SheetCam is licensed?

just messaged you les, its says its licsened

just purchased a new liscense and its now working fine,

just out of curiosity, what software do people use to design the following picture ive attached?

Not sure if this is your problem but it certainly wont help.
If you use the clear all button to clear the tabs that will help.

It’s a bit fine detail to start cutting with if you are at that stage, try something easier to kick off with when you do start cutting,

Sorry don’t know what happened there, seemed to miss the other post’s
Glad to see you are up and running, well done!

I would use Coreldraw for the likes of that part.
