Can a Path Rule insert code before M3 ??

Les,
can a Path Rule insert code BEFORE M3. Every time I've used "On Start", or "On Leadin", or "Near Pierce", it puts code AFTER M3.
I know I can put a code snippet before M3 with conditional post processing but in some cases a Path Rule is much more selective and easier/quicker.
This guy reckons his path rule is inserting code before M3. Is that even possible ??
