Scanything - PC power needs ??

Post by mancavedweller »

Hi Les,

do you have a rough guide for what minimum specs a computer needs to run Scanything.

I've just put an old PC in service on my plasma table. It runs Mach OK but when I started Scanything, the CPU skyrocketed to 95% and stayed there, and the display frames and camera frames were right down around the 7 mark but it's a Supereyes 30 FPS camera.

I see in your instructional video the CPU is hanging around the 50% mark so I'm guessing Scanything does need a PC with some grunt.

Cheers,

Keith.

Ideally you need at least 2 cores running at 2GHz. I'm running a quad core i7 here. Realtime image processing is really power hungry and I'm afraid there isn't much I can do about it.

Thanks very much Les, that explains it. The PC I'm using is light years away from those specs.

I'll swap it out for a much more powerful one.
