SheetCam / SC Dev crashes when closing on Windows 7 32 bit

Post by JohnB »

Les - I was helping a friend set up a new installation and was having trouble with SheetCam crashing. We were attempting to run it on the "controller" pc that he was sold (Windows 7 32 bit), but it would never properly close, losing settings etc.

I took a couple of "screenshots" (with my phone, sorry about the quality). Hope maybe it would help.

This problem seems to occur only on a few machines. I am trying to find out what is going on but it is very difficult as I can't replicate the fault here.

I was hoping to get you a bug report, but it seems when it crashes it won't even produce that. We had an XP machine sitting there and got everything loaded so it wasn't an "unsolvable" issue. Just more of a nuisance.

Hi Les

I seem to get the same error on Win7 32bit. I can't find a debug log, but I have the Windows event errors for you. I have also tried to reinstall, no luck. Hope this helps you.

Thanks
Ruben

Thanks. I am still hunting for this one. I have a suspicion it is related to another problme where SheetCam doesn't always close properly on some machines. The windows dissappear but it keeps running in the background. Unfortunately I can't figure out what is going on there either!

Just started migrating to Win7 32 bit and have the same problem with SheetCam but not Sheetcam Dev which seems to shut down okay.

Hope this helps.

Update. I copied the default toolset and the ini file from my XP installation to my Win7 version and now the dev version in Win7 also crashes on shut down like the other folks have seen.

Hope this helps.

Problem solved

Post by pbarratt »

I applied the fix found in the other discussion thread by JBS_solutions for the program crashing on startup. I set the compatibility mode to Win7 for the exe files and they both (TNG and Dev) seem to operate and shut down properly.

Thank you. :P

Do you need this for dev? I will be releasing the new V6 stable in the next week or so. This will effectively be the same code as Dev.

Can't speak for others but I'm okay with going to V6.

Thanks
