Pausing motion to allow torch to start

Post by bajees4 »

Hi All, NOOB here although I built my machine over a year ago.
This might be my first post and if not its my first in a long time.
I have built my own table, 48x48 Mach3 Sheet cam and tinkering with inkscape. I have a floating head that I have built and it works pretty well i guess
I have a new plasma cutter(Forney) and its not CNC ready but I do have it configured to fire the torch, but it fires after the motion has already started. Is there something I can do to delay the motion a couple seconds til the torch fires?

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Normally Mach waits for "arc ok" from the plasma cutter before it moves, but I don't know if your Forney has that signal.

This is what the pierce delay in your tool definition is for. If pierce delay doesn't seem to make a difference run Mach3 and go to Config->general config. In the 'General configuration' box, right hand column is an option 'G04 dwell in ms'. Make sure that is turned off.
