Post question

Post by Dropout »

Good evening

How would I set up a post to call the next tool right after a tool change?

Something like:
T3 (initial tool needed)
M7 (tool change)
T100 (next tool)
G0X20 (start to use T3)

I would be interested in that as well.

I'm afraid there isn't any way to do that at the moment. The post does not know what tool will be needed next.

Forward looking tool change

Les, I have also wished for forward looking 'next' tool change. Add me to the list also.

I have been thinking about pre selecting tools. Currently SheetCam only tries to figure out the tool number at the start of an operation but I should be able to make some changes so it looks ahead to figure out what the next tool will be. What should happen on the last tool change? I guess you just don't output the pre-select tool number.

While asking about handling tools, is it possible to have specific instructions per tool?

One of my machines has a drill bank so each drill has a specific M code and offset.
