Ramp lead-in & lead-out

Post by benkrall »

I need some advice on how to make a customized lead-in and lead-out.

What I want the tool to do is ramp down into the cut over the distance specified in the lead-in, and ramp out of the cut.

The purpose is to lay out drawings with a pen, so that there is no dot of ink at the beginning and end of the "cut" where the pen is drawing.

I have tried doing this as a flame operation, using the ramp lead-in setting, but the results aren't great, and there is no lead-out option. It seems more intuitive to use the mill/router operation, which would be perfect if I could create a customized lead-in/out to drag the pen in and out of the line.

I couldn't find an obvious way to do this with a g-code snippet as the movement would be relative to the beginning and end of the cut, and would need to be different code for the lead-in vs. the lead-out.

Any ideas would be really appreciated.

Thanks,
BK

Hmm, That's a tricky one. You can't do it in SheetCam but you could do it by modifying the post. It wouldn't be easy though as you have to override SheetCam's normal behaviour.
