rotary axis setup in linuxcnc, do I need to use letters U, V or W in lieu of AB or C.

given it seems that ABC are fixed rotational axis and are not linear as sheetcam expects to see?

The linear axis stipulation is mainly aimed at Mach3, which does some odd stuff when in rotary mode. In LinuxCNC just make sure you don't enable WRAPPED_ROTARY on your rotary axes.
