Looking at the change log of 7.1.15, I assume I need to wait for the next release?

It should be in the current release. Take a look at your V carving operation and see if you have a depth per pass option.

Hello Les,

I just installed the current DEv release and gave it a try - this looks great in the simulation. I'll give it a try on a piece of wood later the day.

Just wonderful - thank you very much!

I have another question please:

I have a mill job with lot of pockets with multiple passes to final depth. How can I tell Sheetcam to NOT lift off Z to a save position after each pass?
This would save the job a lot of time.

Cheers,

Markus

You can't disable the lift. The problem is that if you have complex geometry or islands there may be an uncut area in the way.

ok, that's of course a reason. But what about adding this with a "use at own risk"-checkbox? I would be really useful when milling a lot of holes...
In some of my jobs it's around 500 per job...
I can remove this lift manually from gcode, but need to redo this after each e.g. setting change in sheetcam. "Manually" means lot of work, "Search & Replace" has the risk to remove more than I wanted ;)

Can the post be modified to exclude the lift?

It wouldn't be possible to remove the lift in the post because the post doesn't know when it is in a pocket. Removing lifts would remove all lifts, which is not a good idea.

I have another Idea - not sure if it makes sense :)

If a checkbox with "don't lift" is ticked, then the tool path changes in that way, that the tool goes back to it's starting point inside the pocket first.
Similiar like it goes for milling = it passes around islands in case they exist. And then it can continue with the next depth without a lift and without producing possible crashes

I'll need to think on this one. Whatever I do needs to be robust. A 'use at your own peril' option is likely to end up biting me with an increase in support calls.

This can extremely speed up jobs with lots of milled holes and pockets.

For me this would be a real killer feature :)

Thank you in advance for your effort!

Cheers,
