Hello Les and everyone else,
Les, I apologize for being a nuisance with all the questions. Not to justify myself, but when a machine threatens to get the best of me - it pi__es me off - It just ain’t gonna happen. Consequently, I have more questions and hope you’ll bare with me.
One of the error messages I’ve been getting is ‘layer not found’ under Operations.
Ok, so under View when the Layer Tool is checked - nothing happens. However, in the help file, a small message box is shown, with the statements: “Toggles the Layer Tool on or off. To turn a layer on or off click on the check mark.
To add a new layer see ‘Hints and Tips\Creating your drawing\Use layers’.
To close the palette click on the ‘X’ button.
Note: The Layer Tool palette can be ‘dragged’ from the default location to anywhere on the screen by clicking and dragging on the ‘header’ bar. To put it back drag and drop it on the left hand side of the screen.”
I’ll be darned if I can find it. I even looked at the back of my screen. I would think this is likely one of my problems.
Another is the Tool. Doesn’t each tool contain the parameters setup when we enter stuff like Name, Type, Tool Number, Kerf Width, etc, etc, mm’s or inches and so on? I understand that material thickness, and Feed Rate IPM, etc, change with different jobs, so I can see where defining different tools comes in. Anyway, isn’t this a correct assumption?
I read your last post-answer; i.e., “…If you want to save all of the tools just go to File-> save toolset as. You can then load that tool set into a different job. If you want SheetCam to remember the tool settings so they appear next time you run SheetCam, go to File->save default toolset.” This helped a lot!
Another, is why would after nesting a part, then running a simulation; the cut cross hairs stop somewhere before it completes the whole part? And why when a simulation is run on nested parts, that the program skips over the parts stopping on the last with no cut paths shown. Does any of this have to do with the lack of a layer?
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, and again I apologize for my ignorance.
Jim
