Yes, put the scribe lines on a different layer. You can then set up a cut operation on that layer using the scribe tool.
By the way for decorative work you can get interesting effects using the pocketing operation.

The post processor is set up to handle a plate marker. You need to make up some form of attachment for the marker and you need to use a spare output in Mach to trigger it. A common mounting setup is to use a small pneumatic slide that moves down when the marker is activated. This video demonstrates ...

Oops, sorry I missed this thread. I'm afraid there isn't any way to do this in SheetCam. If it is just a straight line it would be pretty easy to manually edit the g-code

It has been in the development version for a little while. Look for 'Always lift cutter when repositioning'

I and J are the arc centre. For arcs with very large radii it is quite easy for the centre to be somewhere off the table. The actual move is from X1.0146 Y5.3350 to X1.0153 Y5.3197.

Is that actually the line where it takes off?

Just to confirm, it moves to the first start point, moves to the correct pierce height, turns the torch on then just sits there? The most likely reason is that Mach3 is set up for THC but it isn't seeing the 'arc ok' signal from your plasma cutter. It sits and waits because it thinks the torch hasn'...

After you open a drawing a box appears with a number of options. Turn off 'Use colours as layers'.

It is likely to be a couple of weeks before he manages to get something working. In Scanything try turning the servo gain down. Does this help? Running with a very low servo gain will mean that you can't scan very fast but it may get you going for now.

Is this a SmoothStepper based system? There is an issue with the SS which can cause the symptoms you describe. Greg at Warp9 is working on the problem.

I'm afraid disabling the parts is the only way to do it at the moment. If you have a lot of parts and only want to cut a few, drag-select to select all parts then hold the <ctrl> key and select the parts you want to cut. Now right-clcik and disable the rest. It's not quite as quick as your suggestio...

Are all of your parts on one drawing or have you loaded them as separate parts? If you disable parts in the parts window they won't be output by the post processor. If all of your parts are in one drawing right-click on the part in the parts window then select 'break up manually nested drawing'. Thi...

It is pretty easy to change the post if you are willing to have a go. Go to Options->machine->post processor and click on the 'edit post' button. Roughly 2/3 of the way through the file you should find this piece of code: function OnCoolantOff() post.Text(" M09 (...

This might help http://flipthatbit.net/2013/09/draftsights-explode-text-function/ I did try to make SheetCam support text but it proved to be very unreliable. The problem is that although Autocad released the specifications for the dxf format they didn't go into a lot of detail, especially where tex...

Re: 2 questions about postprocessors - need to customize the

One machine has weak Z axis motor, so I need to limit the velocity for Z axis moves, which I intend to do by using G01 (and set the feedrate in postprocessor as that does not need to change), instead of G00. It would be better to limit the motor's speed in LinuxCNC. Doing it in the post is not idea...

This is probably an Autocad thing. Try exploding the text before you save the dxf file.
