Re: Sheetcam operations selection

I don't know how to do that but why on earth would you want to change "kerf" to "thickness of metal".

Kerf is the width of the "slot" cut by the plasma torch. That in no way has any connection to how thick the metal is.

Re: Code Snippets before afterburn

Hi Rod, not sure what you mean when you say "the THC does not like it much". Anyway I've attached a job file and a tap file. Is this what you are looking for ? I made a code snippet with your M64 P2 and used that in a path rule. The reason the cutting rule has a feedrate of 99.5% is that i...

Re: parts with arcs grow

Les,

he may have found what is causing this issue. It was certainly a good eye opener for me.

Re: Is there a way to break up arrayed parts ??

Thanks Sean, yeah I pondered that idea already. Problem is the Neuron is an external "black box" that controls the Z and does THC functions. You basically set your pierce height, pierce delay, cut height, etc and that is applied to all parts. So even if I bypassed the Arc Ok, the Neuron is...

Re: Is there a way to break up arrayed parts ??

Ha ha, that is EXACTLY what I did, but just wanted to confirm there was no quicker way. I unticked the tick box of the arrayed part I replaced so that I didn't have the new copy part over the old arrayed part. Thanks Les. And thanks for the tip djreiswig. I can see some small countersunk bolts/screw...

Is there a way to break up arrayed parts ??

Hi Les, I have arrayed a part so there is a total of 5 pieces on 1 row. I tried "Manually Break Up Manually Nested Drawing" to make these arrayed pieces "un-linked" (I wanted to do this because I had a need to move the pierce point on just one of them, after a flameout occurred a...

Re: plasma table not responding to mach3

It's been a while since I used Mach3 but click on the SINGLE BLOCK button on the main screen. I believe an "LED" will light up next to it to warn you that it is enabled. Now every time you press CYCLE START only one line (block) will be executed. Before you do this, make sure your plasma c...

Re: plasma table not responding to mach3

How do you know your "code and everything" works OK.

Have you single stepped through the gcode, monitoring the plasma table and seeing at what point the table does not do what the gcode is commanding it to do.

Re: Plasma Torch Will not Lift up during cut.

This is how I approach problems like this. You've got two completely independent software programs here. You have Sheetcam which creates the gcode. You give that gcode to your CNC controller software, which executes each gcode line sequentially. What gcode line is the program stopping on. Remember t...

Re: Paths Not Generated Correctly

I opened that job file and the first problem was "Inside Offset" was selected. That puts the cut on the wrong side of the lines. Play with all three settings and you'll see how it works. The 2nd problem, which I see with many files, is the detail is too small and you get spaces where the t...

Re: True shape nesting

But that gets back to what Les said about sales volume, based on the lack of interest in Mynesting. I don't think it would just be an "additional charge". My guess is the price could be multiples of what Sheetcam costs, if the nesting capabilities are worth anything. Mynesting is supposed ...

Putting separate parts on same layer.

Hi Les, I came across something new (for me) today. I had and existing job file with one part comprised of 4 different layers. I imported a 2nd part which had its own single layer. This is when I found out I cannot move anything from a layer of one part to a layer of another part. Is this the way Sh...

Re: True shape nesting

I have no idea what is involved in programming nesting software but based on prices of nesting software that does a good job, I'm guessing it's no small task. If Les were to put the time and effort into something like this, I'd assume he'd have to sell it as a separate package to make it worthwhile....

Re: Modify Layer Order

I don't think you'll need to re-order the layers. Let me explain. When you create an operation, you select the layer to work with. So if you have say 3 layers, you create 3 separate operations, 1 for each layer. THEN you can drag the operations up or down to change the order in which they are done. ...
