Looking thru the post-processors in Sheetcam I see a Mach3 or perhaps Mach3 2d that might work.

It looks like the post-processor you picked in the screen shot is a plasma processor. You'll need to find a router processor. I'm afraid I can't help you there, as I have never used Sheetcam for processing my router files. Something I'll have to figure out myself when I get some spare time.

I use draftsight, it's advantage being it's free. I also use CorelDraw for most of my designing, and it also allows you to add dimensions to the drawing, it's disadvantage being it's not free. I suppose it depends on the types of things you design as to what program will be best for you.

I suppose you could put the required parts on their own layer, then just define the operation for that layer. (Use the contour tool to move parts to different layers). I do this quite often when I just want to cut just a part of a drawing. Or sometimes I want to cut some parts inside contour, and so...

I don't have Auto-cad, but in Coreldraw, you can convert the text to polylines before exporting to dxf. When I export to dxf, I get a pop up box that asks how I want to export text. Perhaps one of these 2 methods will also work in Auto-cad.

I tried out your G Code viewer plugin, unfortunately when I click on it in the plugin's menu, it brings up the DXF viewer. Looking at the LUA file with notepad, the Dxf viewer and the G Code viewer look to be almost identical.

I have found that you can't edit the tools in the table itself (the table you pull up by clicking on the grid icon in the far left of the Tools box. Instead I have found that you can double click on the individual tool in the Tools scroll box, which will bring up an edit box, where you can edit the ...

I tried out this new feature on my Windows 7 Dell computer. After unzipping the folder in my plugins folder, SheetCam TNG would display the initial splash screen, then lock up and not load any further. I had to use task manager to stop the process, then reinstall SheetCam in order to get the SheetCa...

When I first started out in CNC (router), I used a program called CamBam, which is a Cad/Cam program. It works well, and I still occasionally use it. It will output g-code and Dxf, no svg. However, it is not an Autocad clone. You can make squares and circles with precision by specifying sizes in a p...

Under the File heading there is a menu item Save Toolset as. Just save the toolset on a flashdrive or such and then open it from the same menu heading on the new computer.

You can use the contour tool (C button) to move objects to different layers. Then you can choose which layer you want to do first by making a different operation for each layer. You can even change the order of operations by dragging the operations in the operations window.

I use version 6.0.15 right now, and it works great. Once in a while I even use the development version 6.1.13 and it's got some nice features also. Why go back to an old unsupported version when you can have all newest bells and whistles.

Good luck and nice chatting with you, Steve
