Quite a few years ago got a servo system from Tom USA with the forth axis included. Now stupid question, the rotary can do shs (square hollow section ) rhs, and round, what the...

Re: In routing not straight plunge
Thankyou Les, wasn't shure and haven't tried as yet. Will be doing quite a bit of HPL in the coming weeks and would like to follow the bit manufactures recommendations to prolong their life. Thankyou again

In routing not straight plunge
I am cutting HPL (solid 10mm in one pass for the edge cut surface finish) and have been told to 'not plunge straight down with the cutter'. The reason for this is that the heating of the cutter bottom when plunging, heats up the tool and prematurely, looses it's cutting edge and snaps. I am using 6m...

Re: Just a question Les. Error in Mach3
Again Thankyou Les. Yes that made all the difference, went through without a hitch. Thankyou very much appreciated for you help, I would have never guessed that that was the problem all along. It is so frustrating, now how simple that was to correct and how much greef that caused me  . Let me ...

Re: Just a question Les. Error in Mach3
Thankyou for that Les. I will try this and see of it makes any difference. I assumed that if it is an open contour, it has a start and finish so no over cut can be applied and also thought that only applies to the cutting with plasma. OK will try and report back. Thanks again.

Re: Just a question Les. Error in Mach3
Good morning Les. I think the over cut is only on the plasma section at the end of the job, well that is where it is supposed to be. It's the scribing of the open contours that is the problem, That being said there may be more to it than I think. Looking to your analysis and a resolution. Thanks aga...

Re: Sheetcam output in metric, but mach3 is in inches
problem resolved. Mach 3 unit of measure is inches, so native units must be set to inches, saved and all is good. I have created this problem trying t fix other issues and not quiet understanding what I am doing. We live and learn, hope I have learnt a lot

Re: Just a question Les. Error in Mach3
These are the second set that have caused this problem (can't find the first). Once the open contours are removed Mach 3 likes them

Re: Sheetcam output in metric, but mach3 is in inches
Good morning Les. Just thinking back all seemed to be running fine before changing to the suggested post processor. I didn't run any movement of the plasma table just tried to see if the gcode would load up. Could that have any bearing. I am grasping at straws now.

Good morning Les. No it didn't and now it is worse. Nothing goes. I, in mach 3 reset setting from 22 program runs ago and now no smooth stepper. This is now killing me.

Re: Sheetcam output in metric, but mach3 is in inches
Just for your info Les, I tried a old file, which is in metric and it seems that Mach 3 is multiplying everything by a factor of 25.4. My safety Z clearance is 57.5mm so mach 3 decided to go 57.5 inches, subsequently the z drive stalled out at the mechanical stops. I am stumped and don't know what t...

Re: Sheetcam output in metric, but mach3 is in inches
Yes Les it is in metric. Even the Gcode in mach 3 when loaded up at the top says G21 (units metric). It is only Mach 3 which is operating in inches. I just don't have a table that is 1188" by 2390". This would make the item quite large to handle. Any suggestions as to how to change thin in...

Sheetcam output in metric, but mach3 is in inches
As the heading goes, sheetcam output is metric, mach 3 settings are also for metric, however mach 3 DRO shows in inches. The gcode is in metric but when I enter gcode direct into mach 3 it travels in inches. Entered G00 X10 and x axis moved 10 inches. I want this in metric, had this sort of problem ...
