Tapping Head setup

Another thought that I just had is based on the fact that these tapping heads were primarily designed to be used in a drill press or like type of machine. Human reaction time is much slower than a coded cnc machine and as Don points out, results in stresses that the head was never designed to antici...

Tapping Head setup

Brian, When I first tried to use Sheetcam with a tapping head, the first problem was the recognition that the tap would continue to go down as you have noted. The next problem was that with THAT tapping head, was (and I don't remember why now as that was several years ago) that the tap was driven do...

Tapping Head setup

Don, That's the exact one! That video is what mine looked like when it did the M3 holes in 6061. Nice and smooth with no problems. The problem I had setting it up to begin with in Sheetcam was due to the "dead zone" between forward and reverse. At 03:32 PM 6/4/2014, you wrote: Art, thanks ...

Tapping Head setup

Don, A little slow today, but got to the shop and brought the tapping head back to the house so we can try to give pertinent information: IIRC, I bought this from Enco, but can't find my shipping info. However it appears to be the same one listed as the "Enco" brand on the current web site...

Tapping Head setup

Don, I don't remember the exact name right now, but will go to the shop in the morning and see what I can find out. I "think" I bought it from Enco, but don't make me swear to that. The other one I got was at a MSC tent sale and I will try to dig out the specks on that one also. art Countr...

Tapping Head setup

Les, To add to the confusion, remember sometime back (a year or two or so), I bought a Tapmatic clone and was having some problems setting it up with Sheetcam. In my case, it was because of the "deadband" of approximately 1/4" between forward and reverse. I don't remember exactly what...

No Gcode

I have been following this thread and out of curiosity, are you really saving the file to the location that your opening the file from??? Sounds like your opening a file in path "x" when the file is actually saved in path "Y"? Just a thought Art Country Bubba At 07:09 PM 5/24/201...

Cant seem to get License to appear

go to "Help", "Install License file"and browse to the file , highlight it and click OK! Should do it. Personally, I put the file in the main program files folder and keep a backup in several places! Art Country Bubba At 06:38 PM 4/4/2013, you wrote: Hi Guys, I just the other even...

picking midpoint of line for leadin

Just as a suggestion, instead of using 1 line to define the side you want to start on, use two lines and then you will have an endpoint where you want it and can place the start there??? This might be a work around for now. Art Country Bubba At 11:50 AM 2/8/2013, you wrote: This is getting confusing...

Not sure why there were 6 reply's. I view the posts on this forum in my email client and rarely log in like I have this time. We will see how many replies it sends this time. As for the origin, I was referring to the origin in the drawing not the tap file. This can make the table move in the wrong d...

I don't see an attached file, but when you do Sheetcam, where is the origin located in your drawing???? Art country bubba At 06:57 PM 2/7/2013, you wrote: New machine set up. Post processor help

Les, Pete has been able to send me a couple of files that he would like you to look and and help with customizing post processor as he seems to have file attachment problems. Mainly what he would like is to have the post edited to use the canned cycle G codes instead of the "G0 G1" as show...

SheetCAM issue!

See Les's post of just a bit ago: "Hi all, I have just uploaded Stable V4.0.13 to www.sheetcam.com. This release fixes a nasty bug in .12 where it would not import some circles. 4.0.12 seems to have been badly jinxed! Fixed: Not importing circles on some drawings Les" Do an update and you ...

version correct?

Sounds like: 1. You have the min/max hole sizes set wrong? The min must be less than the hole size and the max greater than the hole size. 2. Are all the holes on the same layer??? Sheetcam is layer driven. I am sure there are others, but these the two that most often mess me up. Art Country Bubba A...
