Re: How to adjust the Scale when exporting

Just check you are using either inches or metric. If you set up a job in inches and then export with the settings to mm it will be very small. Not sure if this is the issue, but just check to make sure.

Plasma drilling missing some points

When using the drilling operation in Plasma to mark where I want to drill holes in a flange I get the following. The torch fires on the first point then goes to the second point hovers, but does not fire then moves to the next point and fires. It seems to miss every second point. I have noticed that...

Obvious question: You do have the return from the Plasma attached to your material don't you? That would give you what you are getting.
If you have then perhaps the table needs to be grounded.

Thanks Les, you are a legend.
Changing the pierce height seems to have done the trick. At least on the simulator. I'll have to wait for the weekend to see how it runs on the table.
That would have been the last thing I would have looked at.

Thanks once again.

Delay after pierce before moving to cut

Hi Les,It happens on the table as well. I was under the impression that on thinner material the pierce height could be the same as the cut height. So if I change the pierce height to be higher than the cut height it should sort itself out? I'll give that a shot and see. Thanks for the quick reply. O...

Hi Les, further investigation reveals if I use an arc as the lead in then in simulator it shows the torch firing at the start of the lead in. However, if I use a tangent or perpendicular lead in then the torch does not fire until the end of the lead in.

Further to first post of torch moving before pierce.

Hi Les, Using the simulation in SheetCam I do notice that the torch does not fire until it has finished the lead in. Clearly negating the role of the lead in. So what appears to be happening is the torch is moving before the pierce. Would you have any ideas on where this command to not fire until th...

Delay after pierce before moving to cut

Hi Les, I am having a bit of difficulty with plasma. The machine appears to move prior to having either started or completed the pierce. The end result is I get a shape that is cut out except for small portions where I presume the pierce was supposed to start. Here the metal is still joined. How wou...

how to edit a layer

I would imagine Adobe Illustrator or even Inkscape could edit lines in a DXF. I have changed many DXF in Illustrator, but your mileage may vary depending on the complexity of the DXF. Illustrator duplicate lines

The file you supplied had duplicates in the middle section of the drawing. There are various scripts one can download to nuke duplicates. Google "deleting duplicate lines in Illustrator" will probably bring up a few scripts. Unfortunately there is not as far as I know a "built-in"...

Davek0974 - Using Illustrator

To Davek0974, I use illustrator generated files in Sheetcam exclusively. You just have to watch out for duplicate layers etc. It gets more hairy when you are working on someone else's file as you don't know how they have generated the drawing. Generally what I do in that instance is trace the image,...
