Re: Commissioning a new DIY plasma machine
I have been out of commission personally for a while, still learning to walk again after a medical episode and being given the wrong drug by the hospital. Since my last post, I have changed the machine a lot. I have now installed a new system for the Z axis, one that uses a self contained lifter and...

Re: GRBL post
Thanks Les, The warning is displayed in Universal Gcode Sender. It has small warning triangles against the lines that hold G01 and G03 code and when the cursor is placed over the line in question, a message shows that the code may not be supported. The code seems to complete without any errors. I wa...

Re: GRBL post
I am also think about using a stand alone THC and not sure how this will effect the use of SheetCAM as the Z axis will no long be controlled by my motion software. I am still not sure about how the stand alone system works fully, but I am sure that there will need to be some changes to accommodate f...

GRBL post
I am running a post that is generic GRBL, and although it is working mostly, I am getting notifications that some G01 and G03 moves are not supported. Is there a specific post written for GRBL 1.1h ? The post I am using is shown below. function OnNewOperation() post.Text (";Operation: ", o...

Re: Commissioning a new DIY plasma machine
Yeah, I am still here. I haven't used the plasma for a while, but I got it going except I was not able to have the limits working in any form whatever. I could initiate the limits and they would work fine right up until I fired the plasma, then everything froze. I ended up disconnecting the limits a...

Cutting height not changing
I need a little help please, I am not experienced enough to work out this problem yet. Not sure why this is happening, but for a while now I have experienced a drop in quality of cuts with my homemade plasma CNC machine. I have had to reduce the speed a lot in order to make a cut and the dross is no...

Re: Process item heading
Sorry, I missed this post. Yes, the post processor can be configured output the operation name. What post processor are you using? firstPierceTime = 0 --this is an extra delay added to the first pierce as needed by some machines function OnAbout(event) ctrl = event:GetTextCtrl() ctrl:AppendText(&qu...

Process item heading
I am not sure if this is already available or not as I have not been able to find it. Recently a new feature was introduced to Universal Gcode Sender, and that was to use the "send from here" feature in case a problem developed in doing a process. I actually asked for the feature to be add...

Re: Not sure if a sheetcam problem or not
Is your work clamp attached directly to the material? Maybe your cable has a bad connection on one of the ends not letting full amperage through. I always attached directly to the work piece and I have checked the cable and it is good. This machine doesn't have a removable earth cable, so maybe the...

Re: center pierce holes help?
I think it also depends on the plasma. My Hypertherm 45XP punches pretty deep even at the shortest on time and 35A. It won't fire reliably much below 35A on my normal cutting consumables. I don't do enough marking to warrant changing out consumables just to mark drill holes. I must be lucky I think...

Re: Not sure if a sheetcam problem or not
Heavy dross on the underside sounds like you are cutting too slow. It could also be that you are cutting too high. The green tinge is the arc burning the copper nozzle. This could again be due to cutting too high or it could be some other factor such as air pressure causing the arc to become unstab...

Re: center pierce holes help?
The first time I tried this I thought I'd use a carbide stub drill to pilot the marked hole. The mark is still hard so I thought the carbide drill would last longer. It actually only lasted a couple of holes before chipping. Lesson learned! I use plain old HSS or cobalt now. Cheap and easy to re-sh...

Re: Pirated Sheetcam license
search for a file on the computer that has .camlic as the extension, then delete that file. I think that will get rid of it, not sure, but I am sure Les will be able to tell you.
