edit basic contours in sheetcam

Hey Les, Would it be possible without a terrible amount of work to make sheetcam able to edit basic properties of imported drawings. Like say I want to change the diameter of a circle. Would this be possible? And if you're really feeling fancy, maybe make a trim/extend tool to chop off a stray line?...

Re: Inserting Text

Well that is incredibly simple, just click and drag. I overlook the simple stuff way too much. I figured you already had something in there.

I hear ya there, that's every day at my job lol. Let me know if i could actually be useful instead of just asking for new features

Re: Job Report Dialog Box

That looks to be an incredibly handy tool, i'll have to give it a try, thanks! Ideally though, i would prefer to put into a field in sheetcam the machine cost per minute, operator cost per hour, and programmer cost per hour and on the job report just spit out the total cost for the job based on thos...

Re: Job Report Dialog Box

Les, i'm coming back to this one again. I am still going to push for a customizable job report dialog box. I would love to have more fields than just a notes box and now i would like to add a job costing analysis to the report. Is there any way you could make the pop-up dialog customizable?? And may...

Inserting Text

Hey Les, Would it be possible to make the text tool where you could just click a location on the part where you want to place the text instead of having to type in the X,Y coords? It would be such a time saver because 9 times out of 10 i dont know the exact x,y where i want the text. Or can sheetcam...

Re: Print tool table

Can't you open the excel file and format it all pretty? I don't know what it looks like, but formatting in excel isn't all that difficult. If it's delimited, then text to columns should make it all pretty. I'm sorry, the way i worded that was incorrect. The tool table is not actually stored as an e...

Print tool table

Got another crazy idea.... is it possible to print the tool table as displayed in sheetcam? I know i can open the excel file and print from there, but it is not formatted all nice and pretty and easily legible. I would say i could just screenshot the tool table window, but unfortunately i have too m...

Re: Use Path Rules to Set Post Variable

Although Les will not like this..... I agree with you, the rule you mentioned would be very useful and could simplify things quite a bit. I dont see how it would solve my original problem of needing a rule to change the power level on short line segments. Corners are not a problem for our laser, it...

Re: New Feature Suggestions - Scale and DXF Text

Rob, I tried it out, it works perfectly for turning basic text into lines and arcs just as you described. I believe i am going to have the same struggles as you, since i am so used to AutoCAD and have all my shortcuts and commands set up. I'll probably still do all my drawing in ACAD and then use Li...

Re: New Feature Suggestions - Scale and DXF Text

Thanks for the link Rob. Unfortunately AutoCAD LT does not have the express tools. The WMFOUT/WMFIN process is what i have to do and it works well, it is just what i would call a lengthy process. And once you do the process, if you did not have the original text on a separate layer, it is gone for g...

Re: New Feature Suggestions - Scale and DXF Text

I would hardly call you lazy Les. The amount of work you have put into SheetCAM is impressive. I, on the other hand, am truly lazy lol. I understand about the text. Unfortunately just exploding the text is not a simple task for us. We only can afford Autocad LT which cannot just explode text to line...

New Feature Suggestions - Scale and DXF Text

Hey Les, Is there any current way to change the scale of the drawing after it has been imported. The status bar has the coordinates and rotation that can be adjusted on the fly, but i do not see a scale. Could this be easily added so we can quickly change a drawing scale without having to re-import ...

Re: Start point placement

Isn't it possible to increase the safe height in your case? Or is it at maximum already? Unfortunately that will not solve the problem. This is a production laser machine, the movements are optimized for speed of processing. The head retracts as the XY rapids instead of the head retracting then the...

Re: contour mill operation

Yes I can draw a box the size of the stock. So then I would need to use a pocket operation? How would I set the leading to feed in tangent to the corner instead of plunging into the stock or ramping into the stock?

contour mill operation

How is the best way to mill a outside contour part from a rectangular block? I started with contour operation, but it does not seem to take into account the stock material size, it just runs a path around the contour. Stock size is 9"Lx5"Wx2"T. Finished size is the dxf contour.
