Re: Rotary Table use with Sheetcam and Mach 3

Yes it is a Rose Engine Making the rotary table the Y axis doesn't work. As a test, I drew a simple 2.00" diameter circle and had SC start the cut at X= -1.00, Y = 0.00 As the routine started, the X axis gradually moved towards 0.00 and then over to +1.00. Exactly as it would if everything was ...

Re: Rotary Table use with Sheetcam and Mach 3

Here are a couple of photo's. Remember, this is just a mockup but a mockup that works well enough to test parts placement and, of course, software compatibility. Once I get it to work, I will re-make everything out of aluminum and brass along with some proper bearings and timing belts. Also, it is s...

Rotary Table use with Sheetcam and Mach 3

I've been using both Sheetcam and Mach 3 for 15 or more years so I'm reasonably familiar with them both but I have created a bit of a situation for myself. This may be a bit hard to describe. I have built a small prototype CNC engraving machine. It will be engraving the face of small brass and silve...

How about a "Tricks and Traps" section ?

I've been using Sheetcam for about 15 or so years, all hobby work. Not full time but far more in recent years. My work used to be pretty much all aluminum with a bit of brass but now it's mostly wood. ( I have a CNC mill and 2 CNC routers - all hobby ). As with anything we do, we learn over time wha...

I figured it out.

Even though in the Application Options I had the Units set for Inch, when I imported the file again, I noticed that the Scaling there was set for metric.

Problem with Development version screen

I have been tinkering with the Development version and have set it up exactly the same as my stable version. But something is amiss here. See them side by side ( Dev version on the left ).

Move Notes to "Basic" tab contour screen

I very seldom use notes unless it's really important for that operation. But, since I don't use the too often, I just don't get into the habit of checking if one exist until it's too late. Since there is so much blank space in the "Basic" tab contour screen, would it be possible to put the...

Alphabetical Layer Sorting

When I am designing my parts in my CAD program, I name the layers with a prefix to help me machine everything in the correct order. For example, 1a Center Drill all holes, 1b Through Drill, 2a Mill Pocket, etc. Occasionally, when I have a really complex part, I end up with a lot of layers. So, when ...
