Re: Vcarve operations

It is if you use a parallel cutter. If you use a V cutter , the cutter ramps up into the corner, creating a sharp corner.

Re: Vcarve operations

I assume you are using the V carving operation to sharpen the corners. You can also do that using 'overcut corners' in the 'Cut path' tab. Overcut is available in both contour and pocket operations.

Re: Plugin documentation?

Yeah. Lua doesn't know a StartValue is a descendant of StartPoint. However this may work:

Code: Select all

local st = operation.defaultStart:DynamicCast("StartPoint")
local leadin = st.leadin
Although Lua doesn't know about the relationship, C++ does. DynamicCast is implemented in C++ so this may well work.

Re: Plugin documentation?

Yes, defaultStart contains the operation's start point parameters. Take a look at startpoint.i for more info. leadin and leadout are the leadin and leadout lengths. The lead in/out type can be one of: sc.LEAD_NONE, sc.LEAD_ARC, sc.LEAD_TANGENT, sc.LEAD_PERP After changing the start point you need to...

Re: Vcarve operations

The V carving option is for 'chip carving' where the cut depth is dependent on the available space. It's good for signs and decorative carving but probably not what you want. If you are doing inlays you probably want to pocket the part the inlay goes into and do an outside offset on whatever you are...

Re: 6.1.59 Problems

That is deliberate. A tangent leadin makes more sense than a perpendicular one when you are on an outside corner with no overcut. With a perpendicular leadin the machine has to make a sharp change in direction at the end of the lead, which slows down cutting and can affect cut quality. Instead it us...

Could you send me a job file that demonstrates the problem.

Re: Development version import problems

Found it. The next version will import splines much faster and with greater accuracy. It should be faster then the stable version. Remove duplicate lines is now automatically disabled for complex shapes that would take a long time to check.

Re: Development version import problems

Sorry for the delay in replying. I was working away yesterday.
There aren't any Windows releases between 6.1.53 and 6.1.59. Those were Linux releases.
I have a suspicion I may know what is going on. I will run some tests and see what I can find.

Re: 6-1-62 question

Could you go to c:\mach3\plugins, right-click on the SheetCamRemote file and select 'properties'. Could you tell me the exact size of the file.

Re: 6-1-62 question

Could you go to c:\mach3\plugins and delete the SheetCamRemote file. Now reinstall SheetCam. Does that fix it?

Re: 6-1-62 question

Hi Steve,

That's odd. I just tested it here and I didn't have any problems. I have just uploaded an update for a different issue. Could you give that a try.

Re: Development version import problems

Could you check your drawing import options, Options->application options->drawing import. Are they the same on both versions? Your drawings contain a lot of spline curves. As G-code cannot handle splines they are broken into lots of short line segments. Your drawing import options have a big effect...

Re: Development version import problems

The problem is overlapping line detection. SheetCam has to compare every line in the drawing with every other line to see they overlap. When you have thousands of lines this becomes very time consuming. If you leave it long enough the drawing will eventually load. Go to Options->application options-...

Re: Center torch to hole center and burn from center?

You can also use the align tool. Move the torch to the hole center position and make a note of the machine coordinates. In SheetCam select Mode->align. Click on the centre of the hole. A box will now appear for you to enter the new coordinates for that point. When you click OK the drawing will be mo...
