What am I doing wrong? vcarve

I just purchased the vcarve option and am excited to learn how this works!
I did a text sign in inkscape using the Sylfaen font, saved as a SVG. Loaded into Sheetcam and went to the vcarve application. Picked the tool (90* v bit) and the layer. Set the max depth at .25" and left the other setting the same. When processed, the tool path goes along the outside of the letters, and also the inside of those letters such as "O,R&D". Logically I would go to the tool path and pick pocket, but that is not an option for vcarve.
So, the question is, What am I doing wrong?

So, I went back to the shop today and started to play around with this issue. Found the problem and got it resolved. Thinking that posting why it went wrong may help others, here is why.
I had a border that I wanted to cut out as well and it was on the same layer. All I needed to do was create a new layer for the border and all went well.
