How to mill at different depth levels

Post by contacttodd »

First, thanks for reading my post. This question might be simple as I am new to the software, but after considering different ways to do this idea, I thought it would be easier to ask others more knowledgeable:

I am trying to mill a part from wood and have sheetcam create different levels for the wood to be milled. Think of a pyramid, and each row of the pyramid to be a different level, thereby giving it its overall shape. How would one do this in sheetcam?

It seems a pocket wouldn't be the right approach as it will bore out an area at an consistent depth. Unless you could use a layering approach an vary the pocket operation in a series of steps to give it the depth at each row of the pyramid.

Any ideas would be very appreciated. :o

If you refer to the counter sunk operation post further down it may answer your question. Each level will have to be on a different layer (do this in your CAD software or SC), then you change the depth on each layer in SC.
