Can scan anything save partial traces, or things that error

I'm tracing some large designs with Scananything. I'm getting "edge tracing failed" messages in various locations. I'm not quite sure why. I've traced the designs on clean paper with a solid black felt tip pen, etc.
More to my question...can Scan anything be made to save these paths that end up failing"? I'd be happy to splice together several "partial" paths, if need be. Heck, I've got to clean up the scanned images anyway. This would be very beneficial to me.
As it's already driving the table, it seems like the ability to trace the travelled path from start to last point before error would be within the realm of possibility.
