Negative Cut-Off

Post by aaronrankeng »

Hi

Is there any way to set a negative cut off at the end of a cut?

trying to get rid of a small divot on cut holes on underside only.

my plasma cutter takes anywhere up to 0.25 second from m05 code to actually turning off... have read that best way to get rid of divot is to have negative cut off so that plasma fully extinguishes at the point where kerf crosses....

any help appreciated!!

cheers,

You could try using an over-cut when you set up your cutting operation in Sheetcam.

Tried that...

Using overcut makes it way worse... massive divot on bottom of plate..

using negative overcut by about 1mm and a very small lead-out (1.5mm) is the closest ive got so far but still everytime it stops moving and gives the M05 code the torch will sit there still on for approx. 0.25 seconds with nothing under it to cut and divot appears...

Update....

Found a post on plasma spider which said to use M10p1 code as part of a cutting rule.....

set up and is 100% improvement

I used a 2mm Overcut + 2mm Arc Lead-out + M10P1 code at 12mm before end of cut (including leadout).

Machine was travelling at 1400mm/min cutting 18dia hole in 8mm Steel at 130Amp

Picture is comparison of divot I was getting yesterday against hole cut today.

now ive just got to work out what to do with 100+ 50mm square 8mm plates with and 18dia hole in middle
