how di I do a prismatic letter

Image

is it possible on say - just the one letter style
times new roman

each individual letter has its code - so it can be scaled up and down

would it be easier to actually make them then 3d scan them.

You should be able to do this with an outside offset using a V cutter. You'll probably have to play around with the finish allowance and cut depth a bit. Turn on corner sharpening so it cleans up inside corners.

I can't test it but what would be the result if the z-values created with the v carve module would be inverted from minus to plus ?

How would this look-alike ?

The V carve plugin is trying to cut this shape out of the work. Nobby wants to leave that shape behind. I'm not sure myself what the exact results would be of inverting the Z axis but I don't think it would be pretty.

Think of it this way. Imagine cutting a simple V shaped straight groove. To cut it we simply plunge and move in a straight line. To cut the inverse we need two separate cut paths, one each side. The V carve plugin generates a center line path, varying the depth to control the cut width. An outside offset generates the cut each side of the prismatic shape.
