drawing of a circle has mysterious flat on it when imported

Post by jon byler »

I have drawn out using the elipse tool in adobe illustrator, a pair of concentric circles, in order to cut out a piece of metal to be bent into the shape of a cone. for some reason, when importing this drawing into sheetcam, the program is making one part of the outer circle completely straight.

this particular section has an outer radius of 26.125 inches. I made a number of smaller ones with the radius of the circle set at 15.3125" (and smaller) and had no problem with it importing into sheetcam.

Any thoughts on what is causing this to happen? I've attached a picture to show an approximation of how the arc section looks where it has failed to draw properly.

thanks in advance,
jon

This sounds like the same problem for several posts ago...

Something like.... Import from illustrator fails.... was the name of post....

"I have just had the design guys at work (printers) look at it and the corner points of the outside frame were converted to flexible point instead of fixed points, they converted them back to fixed and it all works perfectly. "

Have a look at Draftsight... A Free CAD program
