Copying cutting tools from one pc to another.

Hi all, I know that I saw this somewhere, but I can't find where. I have SC on my office PC which has all of the plasma tools that I created for a Thermal Dynamics machine. I want to copy all of these to my machine table PC which has all of the preloaded Hypertherm tools that I have no use for. Can ...

As a follow up to this, I saved the files and did the post processing on my office computer, put the .tap file on a thumb drive and opened the file on the machine computer. I can't explain any of this, but it worked perfectly. I checked each and every setting between the office set up in both Inksca...

Attached are the three files. Two from Inkscape (SVG & DXF) and the SC part file. Please let me know if you see anything odd.

Thanks again..

From Inkscape use SVG file instead of DXF this will work, I use Inkscape and have trouble when using Dxf from this program to Sheetcam. The DXF was working just fine since I set up the machine about a month ago. When I try SVG, wierd things happen. First of all, when I import into SC it takes a ful...

PK wrote:Good check. What version of Inkscape are you using?

I happen to have v.0.91 on this installation and it includes a base unit selection (mm, cm, in, ft, etc) when saving as a DXF.
i have version 0.92 and it does have the same feature for selecting the base unit size.

Thanks,

Steve

Can you open the DXF (after Inkscape) in a CAD program? I would and then measure in the CAD program to ensure you are getting the correct base unit from Inkscape. HTH Paul Great suggestion. I did so in ACAD and to my surprise the output seems to be what SC shows, at least for the one file that I ch...

When you import the dxf file, there is a scaling box. Make sure you have the correct check box selected. If you want to process it in inches or metric. You may have the custom check box selected by mistake. Jim, Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately this is not the issue. I believe that I hav...

I have had the same problem with SC loosing parameters on occasion when my windows 10 computer crashes(its a cheaper computer with only 2 gigs memory I use for shop work). This only happens once every month or so. I use SC 3-5 times a week. I keep a backup of the tool list on the cloud and a jump d...

File Import Oddities

Hi All, I have had several instances in the past couple of weeks wherein i start up the PC and open Sheetcam and it is as if Sheetcam was never used. I have to re-set all of the parameters and tools. Now I have a very confusing thing going on. If I import a file in DXF format that was drawn in Inksc...

I'm going to take a guess at this. What I think is happening is those letters are fairly small with sharp corners, the lines are fairly close together and this is causing the torch voltage to rise. The DTHC then tries to lower the torch to lower the voltage to match the set voltage, and this causes...

Torch Dismount - Same Place in File Run

Hi All, I am trying to run the attached file and it all goes smoothly until it gets to cutting the letter M, E or H. The first time, I thought that the torch came out of the magnetic base as a result of a tip up, but not so. When I tried it the second time, assuming all would be okay, the same thing...

Take a look at this link as see if it helps. https://www.candcnc.com/supportforum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1811&p=10349&hilit=G38.2+Move+Finished+Without+Making+Contact#p10349 It sure did help. All I changed was the plunge safety clearance setting in Sheetcam. It had .0197 in that field and ...

G38.2 Move Finished Without Making Contact

Hi, I am trying to cut this part in CommandCNC and keep getting this error on the first move. Prior to the attempt, I have moved the torch to the desired start point, zeroed the X & Y, did a Z Home and Z zero and then tried to cut. I have tried this with the torch turned off too and no differenc...

Great. Now I think I have some good options and a better understanding.

Thanks again.
