Re: Can't find where Z values are coming from

Thanks Les Ok I can see where I got this wrong. When you look at the graphic for Tool Length offset, it looks like Tool overall length. Another note is that the program does not remember the storage location of the tool set. Is this because the tool table is saved against the job ? I see this save l...

Re: Can't find where Z values are coming from

I have got a bit further and found that under Machine Options/Post Processor, I needed to tick Z Zero = Top of work.
Now my Z has reduced to 70 from 120 (50 mm - Material thickness)

Still not sure where the 70 comes from.

Can't find where Z values are coming from

I'm milling details in a aly sheet My jig holds the part 50 mm above the table and the material is 1.5 mm thick as setup in the Job Options. . I will set my machine Z 0.0 to be the top of the material. When I run the post processor, I have a Z of 121.5. Where does this come from ? N0040 M06 T6 N0050...

Re: I'm getting some features to small to machine.

Les beat me to it. I always put each operation on a layer. This time I did not for one process and used the DXF default layer for my path. I didn't realize that there were some holes right where I thought the contour error was on the same layer. That was the problem. It was only when editing the sta...

I'm getting some features to small to machine.

My radii are 5 mm and my cutter 6mm in diameter. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Had to rename the .tool file to tools.job to load it.

Drop down Post processor option

I'm using Sheetcam on 3 machines. It would be nice to have a drop down on the main screen where I can quickly swap post processors. The drop down would only hold processors I use or have selected to use Right now I delete all the post processors I do not use in the \posts directory so I can easily f...

Modifing the DXF not prompted in SC

I have upgraded to the latest version and I can't find the option to prompt when the DXF has been modified.

I use this all the time. Create the DXF, open in SC, find some mistakes, modify the DXF etc

This used to be in the development version.

Re: Fanuc OMD post processor

Made some progress. 2 issues. 1:The OMD controller needs a file name like :0000-> :9999. Not sure how to enter this without editpad. I need the file format to be % :XXXX (PROGRAM NAME) then my g-code 2:The OMD only like capital letters so Units Metric becomes UM. Any way to change this ? Cheers Wall...

Spiral Pocket, Z Direction and holes.

Now using SheetCAM to do 3D stuff. Normally I set my reference on the face and I use -Z to plunge into the block. If I use -Z, the program, froze. So are depths ve + figures in SheetCAM. I selected spiral pocket on the inside but its done a contour. The simulation shows a finish outside cut but not ...

Simulation

Old user but new CNC machine and learning some new commands.

I'm simulating my cutting but the cutter is 60 mm above the part. Not sure where I'm going wrong.

Start depth = 0 (50mm part off table)
Cut depth 5

Precision and G code with 0 length

Can I set the number of decimal places for the G-code. Currently I'm getting 3 places in metric. 2 would be fine. This may fix another issue I have where I'm getting very sort G-code snippets. I'll have to go and find one mistake and track back to the G-code. My machine sometimes comes up with an er...

Re: Problem installing SheetCam on Raspberry PI4 (Buster OS)

Bugger, just read this post. I saw some time back that there was a Linuix version so I pressed on, bought a PI , got it all running over a few days and tried to run Sheetcam only to find out it doesn't work. Any advance on a ARM version ? PS I got a PI4 with 8GB, a 460 GB SSD USB drive and used Rasp...

Re: Mill and direction of cut

Thanks Les

I kept looking for reverse cut as in the laser option.

I've just bought a Yang CNC mill with a Fanuc controller. I see lots of sleepless nights ahead of me getting it going.

Cheers Wallace.

Mill and direction of cut

I've been using SC fro many years but with a Plasma torch only. When you select the layer in the DXF file there is an option to reverse cut direction. Now I'm delving into milling and I cannot find this option for the milling cutters. Is there something I'm missing ? There is an option for Reverse O...
