Hmmmm.... adventures with a tapping head. Having grafted in the AutoTap routing to EMC.scpost, I let her rip and on the second hole the tap snapped :-( It looked like the tap had slipped in the holder and not withdrawn completely from the hole or the clearance wasn't enough for the tap to spring bac...

To follow up on my own post..... it looks like EMC.scpost didn't have an AutoTap function in it.

I've grafted the one out of the Mach3 post file, tweaked it a bit and it generates G-Code.

No time to play with it now but I'll take it for a test drive tomorrow and if it all works post it here.

Tapping head not generating G-Code

I'm probably doing something stupid but tapping head operations don't generate any G-Code to do the actual tapping. I have a DXF file with a 5mm circle at 0,0 in layer '0' (I've also tried with a single point at 0,0; same result). I've defined a Tapping Head as Tool 11: Diameter: 6mm Flute Length 20...

Tool table question

I'm probably misunderstanding something here but is there a way of using the tool table to define different speeds'n'feeds for the same tool without changing the tool number? For example, when cutting a pocket one would have a lower speed and feed and DOC then when doing a cleanup pass. If you're do...

OT Tabs and cleanup

A bit Off Topic perhaps but could I ask what sort of cleanup passes do people do when using tabs? Just trying to figure if the marks shown here are kind of normal or a problem with my machine/setup/use. http://ruffle.me.uk/pics/misc/CIMG0018.jpg This is 12mm 6082, 6mm HSS 2 flute, initial profile 1....

Well I've just bitten the bullet and bought a license..... despite being stuck on 4.1.11 (can't get V5 to work under Wine) and having a sneaky feeling that I might get stuck on V4 forever :(

Please put the profit from my purchase towards compiling the latest version for Linux !

Oh dear.... I typed too soon. None of the file I/O operations work. I can't import drawings, jobs, parts, tool tables or save anything. Clicking anything in the file menu that actually does I/O (Import Drawing for example) just makes the pulldown menu go away. Nowt else happens. No error message fro...

STOP PRESS!

I just compiled and installed Wine 1.5.22 and Sheetcam comes up.

Not exhaustive testing but most certainly a step in the right direction.

I'll play with it and see what happens.

PS. Would still very much prefer a native Linux version.

Just tried the Windows version with Wine. The install from the downloaded SheetCam TNG Development setup V5.1.12.exe file seemed to work fine..... but when I try running it I get the following errors: russell@cnc:~$ wine "./Sheetcam/SheetCam TNG Development/SheetCam TNG Development.exe&...
